Model UN
Model United Nations (MUN) is a simulation for students of the United Nations that allows students to take part in an interactive learning environment that combines research with creativity. Students form delegations representing the member nations of the UN and participate in forming resolutions to deal with global affairs. Rather than representing their personal views on issues, delegates must research the views of the nation they are representing and argue on their behalf. This allows greater international understanding to form for the delegates and promotes open-mindedness.
Quest’s MUN club formed at the beginning of this year and since then has done research into the UN and put on a demonstration event that was open to the entire Quest community. They discussed international nuclear disarmament and managed to pass a resolution at the end of the event. As the club continues to grow and learn the members are hoping to head to a conference in the near future, most likely at one of B.C.’s larger universities first then perhaps on to conferences outside of the province and country.
